About Me

My photo
My name is Georgia, I am currently an A Level media student and also studying photography and history. I enjoy horror films, gigs and RPGs. I love watching all types of films and I am very keen on watching TV dramas, particularly American Horror Story and Breaking Bad. My favourite genres of music are those such as rock/pop punk/metalcore/post-hardcore etc and I hope to use media to help me get into the music scene as a profession - perhaps music journalism or event management/PA work.

Evaluation: - Q6 and Q7.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? (Q6) And Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

In the process of constructing this product I have learnt how to use iMovie more efficiently for example, trimming clips and music.
From my preliminary task an example of something I have learnt is to be more varied in my camera shots.

Evaluation: - Q4 and Q5.

Who would be the Audience for your media product (Q4) and How did you address/attract your audience?

The audience for my media production would mainly be adults 18+ or even a 15+ certificate due to audiences becoming less censored. This is because all my audience feedback was from individuals over the age of 18.
I attracted my audience by incorporating settings and themes into my product which are popular in horror films, such as isolated areas and the paranormal.

Evaluation: - Q3.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

An example of an institution who may distribute my media product would be a small British institution, such as Multistory Films because they distribute low budget independent British films, and the company's debut was a revenge horror named "The Harsh Light of Day."

Evaluation: - Q2.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My media product represents particular social groups such as teenagers because for example, the handheld filming portrays how teenagers are thought of as reckless and perhaps chaotic and unorganised or prepared for the future.

Evaluation: - Q1.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My media product uses the conventions of a horror film as it follows the typical themes for example; isolation, religious beliefs, serial killers.
My media product also uses a variety of camera shots due to it being handheld, such as canted angles and close ups which are commonly used in horror films.
However, my media product also challenges the conventions of a horror as if my product were to made into a feature length film, our synopsis does not follow the typical conventions of a (slasher) horror as for example, the serial killer remains anonymous

Post 42: - FILM SYNOPSIS

After brainstorming a few ideas, we decided that our film would be a 'slasher' horror as we came to the conclusion that the figure that is spotted in the background of our opening would be the reasoning behind the 3 character's death, rather than paranormal entities. The figure would be a serial killer who torments the characters at Cold Christmas and subsequently he murders them whilst filming the whole thing on the character's camera - however you never see the serial killer. After committing the murder, the serial killer takes the footage to the police, playing the role of the 'victim' and thus he is thought of as innocent throughout the investigation. The rest of the film would then follow the investigation (whilst cutting back to footage from the camera) in which the serial killer sits back and revels in watching the investigation take place.
